3D printing is not new and has been around for a few years now. ShapeWays is a company that prints 3D objects for you and delivers them to your home, anywhere in the world, with in ten days.
To create the custom objects you use the free custom 3D interface which basically does all the work for you. The interface is a Java app which you install and run and all you do is fill in the fields and the object is created. Currently there are only a few objects that you can customise and have printed. This includes a LightPoem which is pictured above which allows you to print text of your choosing.
The idea is great although they do need to expand a little which I am sure will happen soon.
Check out the video below and go navigate to ShapeWays to check out what they offer.
