Acer are launching a new range of notebooks that utilise the Intel Core i3 and i5 Arrandale processors. As well as offering the latest Intel processors the notebooks have optional HD graphics and Blu-ray.
The Acer AS5740 has a 15.6 inch screen along with an Intel Core i5-430M processor running at 2.26GHz. The screen is a HD widescreen that’s backlit by LED and can display 1366 x 768 pixels. Other features on the AS5740 include Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit running, 4GB of DDR3 memory running at 1066MHz, a 500GB SATA drive, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with 1GB of VRAM. Connectivity is 802.11b/g and draft-N (probably just n though as draft left a while back). A 10/100/1000 wired Ethernet port can also be found on the AS5740.
The Acer Aspire AS7740 has a larger screen than the previously mentioned model that measures 17.2 inches. This screen is also LED backlit and can display a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. The Acer AS7740 runs the Core i3 processor running at 2.13GHz and has 4GB of RAM and also runs the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system at 64 bit. This model runs the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD that has 128MB of RAM. For storage a 500 GB SATA drive is included as well as a multi-in-1 card reader.
For connectibity the AS7740 has Wireless N built in.
Both notebooks will go on sale on January 19.
