Acer ICONIA TAB A500 Android 3.0 Tablet Unveiled

We’ve seen many Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets being unveiled this week and if you thought that would be the end of it for a while, then think again as there are still many more to come. The next to be announced is the Acer ICONIA TAB A500. The ICONIA TAB is another Android 3.0 Honeycomb device that will launch in the coming months.

Acer has given the A500 a 10.1 inch screen. The screen of course, is capacitive, allowing easy interaction with the Honeycomb operating system. The touch panel is also multi-touch allowing for pinch/zoom. Other features include it being 1080p compatible with the video stream being output via the HDMI connector.

Powering the ICONIA tablet is a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip. It also has an NVIDIA GeForce GPU that supports Adobe Flash 10.1. Connectivity wise, it has the usual WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth 2.1. It has a front and rear facing camer with the one on the back capturing images at 5 megapixels. The one on the front is also HD and capable of capturing video as well as being used for video chat.

    Acer also jumped in the race of Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet at MWC.Its good for tablet users that there is now a very healthy competition going on that leads to new innovative tablets to be launched.

    Though Acer didn’t go into details about the OS, the company did reveal that it will be running “the latest highly intuitive Android OS,” which likely means they’re waiting on Honeycomb, or at least Gingerbread, to hit the mainstream before announcing any more details.
