Some rumours are floating about at the moment hinting that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread release date could be as soon as December 6. Reasons for thinking this is that recently, Eric Schmidt said that Google Android Gingerbread would be available within weeks.
We also now learn that Andy Rubin will be taking the stage at D: Dive in to Mobile in San Francisco on that particular date.
When December 6th arrives, that will be three weeks (ie, within weeks) of Eric Schmidt saying Android would be coming soon.
It is expected that Android Gingerbread will first roll out to the Google Nexus One and after that, the various manufacturers will then need to get it ready for pushing out. The problem here is that it takes some carriers and manufacturers a long time to get the updates out.
