Android Smartphones See 300,000 Activations Each Day

Andy Rubin has confirmed on Twitter that each day, 300,000 Android phones are activated.

That’s a very impressive number. Only back in August of this year, Eric Schmidt announced that 200,000 were being activated daily which shows a huge increase in 4 months.

Steve Jobs made comments about the 200,000 activations a few months back and seemed to indicate that the numbers were not quite correct, although it’s too early to know at the moment what he thinks to the 300,000. No doubt some comment will be made at the next event, whenever that is.

Will the numbers keep growing? Will Apple [AAPL] managed to keep pace, or catch up in this case? We’ll find out sometime next year when the next batch of numbers are announced.
