Rovio will be launching another version of Angry Birds in the coming months. The new version will be called Angry Birds Magic and will be designed for phones that utilise NFC (near field communications). The idea behind it is that you need someone else with an NFC device to help you move to the next batch of levels. Rovio is making the Magic version exclusive to Nokia and will launch it on the Nokia C7 when the Anna update arrives.
Although the game requires someone with an NFC device to help you progress to a new level, we also hear that Rovio will be introducing tags in various places and will leave clues as to where those playing their game can tap their phone against an object.
“Angry Birds Magic is a great demonstration of NFC technology and we’re delighted to have it exclusive to Nokia. It represents an exciting opportunity for developers to create new, innovative apps and games.”
Expect to see the game launch in the coming months. We’re not fully convinced that it’s an exciting way to move forwards in gaming, but Rovio could show us otherwise.
Check out the video below for a quick demonstration of what you can expect from the NFC integrated game.
