RIM has announced on it’s twitter account that the BlackBerry AppWorld has hit 10,000 apps.
Although it’s a milestone for RIM, it’s certainly a fair ways behind the likes of Google [GOOG] and Apple [AAPL] who’s market/app store’s have reached 100,000 and 250,000 respectively recently (or there abouts).
One reason the BlackBerry App World might be quite far behind is due to the types of customers who use the smartphones. BlackBerry devices are aimed at business users and a lot of them are not as versatile in terms of games and other types of apps that you see on Android and iOS devices.
Another reason could be restrictions on the devices themselves in relation to those used as company phones.
We don’t know how long it will take to reach 20K apps at App World, but hopefully the second goal is reached quicker than the first.
