Yesterday, Facebook leader Mark Zuckerberk, announced Facebook Messages. The new service will be offering an address for people @facebook.com allowing them to use the address for email as well as a bunch of other services.
Rather than just being another email account, the Facebook Messages service combines email, SMS, chat and IM all in one location allowing users to contact each other by various means. Zuckerberg described the system as being a social inbox.
Today I’m excited to announce the next evolution of Messages. You decide how you want to talk to your friends: via SMS, chat, email or Messages. They will receive your message through whatever medium or device is convenient for them, and you can both have a conversation in real time. You shouldn’t have to remember who prefers IM over email or worry about which technology to use. Simply choose their name and type a message.
What looks most intriguing here is that you can just send a message to a contact in whatever form you want and they will receive it how they prefer on any device such as a laptop, tablet, smartphone or desktop computer.
The service will be rolling out in stages over the next few months and eventually will arrive on all 500 million user accounts at Facebook.

This is amazing…Wow ..We just can’t say what innovation people come up with…
I’m sceptical about facebook email, as a user of facebook i keep most of my information private, with facebook already being in the media having their privacy content under scrutiny, showing that a lot of out personal information is on view to people other than our friends, I wonder, if using facebook email would my emails be under attack by the same threats…? eg the content of my emails or attatchments etc…..
