Earlier this week, a small percentage of Gmail users had problems with ALL emails vanishing from the system. We now see that the update, as of this morning, that all should have returned to normal:
The problem with Google Mail should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.
Gmail should be back to normal for the vast majority of people affected by this issue. If you are still experiencing an issue, please contact us at [email protected]. Thanks again for bearing with us.
For those worried about losing emails, we hear that none should have been lost as full backups were kept. As for the time when the accounts were down, emails will have bounced although in general, email providers try to resend messages for a number of days afterwards, so if you are finally back in, you should now have a bunch of unread emails to sift through. Lets just hope you configured the priority inbox!
