Google [GOOG] is looking to employ somebody to head up it’s music launch this year.
As well as looking for someone to lead the project, it appears that Andy Rubin (Android guy) is in talks with record labels to get them signed up.
Reuters is reporting that Google has yet to sign up any labels to the service which indicates they need to work rather quick if they plan to launch by the end of this year.
Google has yet to sign any licensing deals with major labels, these people say, but it hasn’t stopped the labels getting excited about the prospect of its entry to the business and what competition with iTunes could mean for the industry.
It will be interesting to see if Google can make something good happen with Music and make a system that many people adopt. With a couple of hundred thousand activations a day of Android devices, they certainly have a good user base to work with.

I think Google music will be an interesting addition to the market, wonder what Apple thinks?
