Corning has announced that its Gorilla Glass is being used for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The Galaxy Tab is a 7 inch screen tablet that runs Android 2.2. With Gorilla Glass on the front, it protects the device. The glass its self is four times stronger and more durable than regular glass used in screens and therefore, can take a bit of a beating without damage (although we don’t recommend you try that any time soon).
The durable, thin display and sleek design of the GALAXY Tab is enabled in part by using Corning Gorilla glass as a cover glass. Continuing a tradition of more than 150 years of innovation in materials science and technology, Corning Gorilla glass is an environmentally friendly alkali-aluminosilicate thin-sheet glass designed specifically to function as a cover glass for high-end display devices such as notebook PCs, televisions, and mobile phones.
We still do not have pricing details for the Galaxy Tab, but expect them to be announced soon.
