HP has finally announced the HP Slate 500 tablet. The announcement comes months, actually almost a year, after the HP Slate was first unveiled in January of this year.
The HP Slate 500 runs an Intel Atom processor and uses Windows 7 as the operating system. The tablet its self is actually aimed at business and enterprise users although there is no restriction on who can buy one. It has a price tag of $799.
For technical specs it has a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor. 2GB of RAM can be found inside along with a 64GB SSD for storage. A Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator is also included allowing it to take care of 1080p HD video content.
The screen on this HP Slate measures 8.9 inches and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It weighs 1.5lbs.
The main worries with this particular tablet is the Atom processor. It will run a little slow when using some applications and certainly wont be super fast… but for those who want a Windows 7 based tablet, this could be a good option for you. Review units haven’t been sent out yet so its a little difficult to know if its any good or not. We’ll get those details to you as soon as we can.
