Sprint [S] is about to roll out the latest version of Android to the HTC EVO 4G. Many people though that this wouldn’t happen this year, but surprisingly it has. The roll-out for Android 2.2 on the HTC EVO 4G starts on August 3rd.
An official press release about the Android 2.2 update has also been pushed out by Sprint that says an OTA notification will start appearing on some phones on August 3 with more OTA updates arriving over the course of a few days till all devices are updated.
If you don’t want to wait for the notification to be pushed to you, there is the option of manually requesting the update by going to settings and system updates. At that point you can tell the EVO 4G to manually check at which point it will find the update and download it.
Enhancements that Android 2.2 will bring to the HTC EVO 4G include the following…
* Voice Dialing Over Bluetooth.
* Application Storage on External Memory, giving users more storage room for all their apps.
* Camera 4-way rotation allows the camera icons to rotate with the camera.
* Improved Browser Performance including a faster JavaScript engine and Flash 10x Support improving the user’s ability to view videos and available content associated with web pages.
