Another jailbreak has been released for iOS 4.1. This time it’s the iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch that can be jailbroke.
The iOS 4.1 jailbreak is called Redsn0w, which we have seen before. The tool has been updated and uses the pwnage2 DFU-mode that Redsn0w used on earlier versions.
The Redsn0w jailbreak tool is currently available for the Max OS X although Windows users will need to wait a little longer to be able to use the jailbreak tool.
IF YOU USE THE ULTRASN0W UNLOCK, PLEASE WAIT FOR PWNAGETOOL TO SUPPORT 4.1. DO NOT USE REDSN0W. That’s because to use redsn0w at 4.1, you need to already have updated to official 4.1 from Apple. If you do that, you lose the ultrasn0w unlock (possibly forever).
The Windows version needs further testing, so for now this is available only for Mac OS X x86. The Windows version will come as soon as the bugs are ironed out.
Note: if you have an “MC” model of the ipt2g, your 4.1 jailbreak will be tethered…sorry! (Consider rolling back to a FW supported by jailbreakme.com or spiritjb.com)

For an update on the progress of jailbreaking other iOS devices, we have seen another jailbreak that also does the iPhone 3GS depending on which model you have.
Some things to take note of when jailbreaking a device is to check if it’s tethered or not. Also, check all the instructions to make sure you have the correct versions of all the software that the jailbreak supports. Feel free to ask in the comments if you are unsure.
