With the release of iOS 4.3 Beta 2 yesterday, Apple also announced that the multitouch gestures introduced in the beta versions will not make it to the public release.
This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.
For those unaware of what multitouch gestures Apple added to iOS 4.3 beta, the company included several ways to jump between apps on the device. Each uses either 4 or 5 fingers and allows you to swipe left and right on the screen to jump between apps. Swiping up brings up the multi-tasking tray and swiping down hides it. Pinching the screen with 4 or 5 fingers jumps back to the home screen. It is believed Apple introduced these tests in 4.3 as a way to get rid of the Home button on iPad 2. The lack of home button would require these gestures to get back home (specifically the pinch one).
Although Apple is dropping them in 4.3, we could see them in 4.4 or perhaps iOS 5 when it gets released.
