Apple [AAPL] has already managed to patch the security hole found in the iPhone 4 PDF function. This particular security hole allows software such as Jailbreakme to work that in turn, allows you to run the iPhone 4 jailbreak although there is also the possibility that malicious code could also be injected in to iOS with the security hole in place.
Apple will be releasing iOS 4.1 soon which will include a security fix within the PDF feature. In turn, this will also prevent the jailbreak from working for those who update to iOS 4.1.
Apple said in a statement… “We’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”
With the iOS 4.1 Beta 3 just being launched, we estimate that the final release will be pushed out to iPhone users before the end of this month.
For those worried about upgrading to iOS 4.1 and not being able to jailbreak, Comex who created the jailbreak has mentioned that the PDF flaw is just one of many security holes in iOS. We suspect the iPhone 4 jailbreak will just be modified to work with another security hole when 4.1 is launched.
