Remember a couple of weeks back we posted about the Motorola DROID 2 keyboard showing up? It now appears that the keyboard was indeed from the Motorola DROID 2 as Droid Life managed to get their hands on the actual device.
The Motorola DROID 2 gets rid of the weird optical pad that sat to the right of the keyboard on the original DROID which is nice to see.
The handset it’s self looks very similar to the DROID 1 with the keyboard being the only major change in the device.
The technical specs show that the DROID 2 will be running Android 2.1 at launch although this might be 2.2 depending on how far away the launch is. The screen measures 3.7 inches. Inside a 750MHz OMAP processor can be found. Also inside is 8GB of storage and an 8GB pre-installed SD card is also to be found.
The back of the device has a 5 megapixel sensor and we hear there is no HDMI output or front facing camera.
No release dates are known yet other than it could be coming any time soon, perhaps early July which marks the beginning of Q3. Droid Life also said that staff are due to go through training on the Droid 2 in the next few weeks on June 22 in preparation for the launch.
We’ll get more information to you as we find it.
