The Notion Ink Adam tablet is a device that looks like it could do seriously well. The main problems have been delays with various things which have pushed the date further and further away. We now hear that things are actually running a little ahead of schedule and that the device will be submitted to the FCC a week earlier than the previous date announced.
The Notion Ink Adam blog also details a few new things about the device. The first detail reveals that it might come with a replaceable battery rather than a soldered in battery.
Other details include a Comic Store that will launch. More details of the Comic Store will be announced in October.
There will be switches for turning off the LED on both the model with a Pixel Qi display and the model with a standard LCD. This will let you save power when either using the device in high contrast mode (Pixel Qi), or when you’re listening to music or performing other activities that don’t require the display.
Although there are no specific shipping dates mentioned we have heard it will ship sometime between November and January. Lets hope for an early December launch at the latest to get it out in time for Christmas.
Some of the technical specs show that the tablet will use an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip. The screen will measure 10.1 inches. It will have an 802.11b/g/n wireless chip inside and will run Google Android. Lets hope it’s Android 2.2 at the very least. Perhaps by the time it launches though it could indeed get the tablet enhanced Android 3.0 version that has been recently rumoured.
