SlashGear received some renders and life shots of a new SmartPad being created by Notion Ink. As of now the SmartPad has no official name although we do know it runs the Android OS and from what SlashGear have mentioned it also runs a new NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset that can support full HD video playback at a 1080p resolution.
The Notion Ink SmartPad has a 10.1 inch display capable of displaying 1024 x 600 pixels. The display comes from Pixel Qi and has a matte finish. Entry can be performed either via touchscreen or by a built in trackpad.
Other features of the SmartPad include integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and UMTS/HSDPA. The panel weighs 1.7 pounds and measures 6.3 x 9.8 x 0.6 inches making it quite slim. SSD is used for storage and you’ll get the option of either 16GB or 32GB along with an SD slot allowing that to be increased if needed.
The SmartPad is only shown in rendered format as they are showing the device off at CES, but SlashGear do have a couple of pictures showing the screen being used which is worth checking out over here.
It is hoped that the SmartPad will launch with a price tag of $300 although the built in phone network connectivity will probably need to subsidise to get it at that price.
