Royal Mail has created the worlds first Intelligent Stamp. The new stamp is capable of working with image recognition technology.
The intelligent stamp works with an augmented reality app called Junaio. When receiving a letter with a new stamp attached you can hold the camera of an iPhone or Android phone over the stamp. The software recognises the stamp and is able to pull up information, video clips and other details about what is on the stamp and play back the information to you.
The Royal Mail’s Philip Parker adds: “This is the first time a national postal service has used this kind of technology on their stamps and we’re very excited to be bringing intelligent stamps to the nation’s post.
It’s certainly a unique idea and one that could be quite educational for those who test the service out.
