Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 update is now available for download. The download comes as an OTA (over the air) update and will bring your smartphone up to the latest version available.
As well as making the newish smartphone current, it will bring a number of new features to the phone which includes…
* Android 2.2 JIT compiler
* Adobe Flash Player 10.1 compatibility
* New Android Market with auto-updating
* Speed improvements
* Pinch-to-zoom homescreen flyover
* Improved default keyboard
* Quick links to “GPS” and “Auto rotation” toggles on notification bar added
* Slightly different graphics and transitions with app drawer and default icon dock
* Colored icons in settings
* GPS Fix
* Colored settings icons
* Media Hub
* Darker menu theme, navy blue color
* Better Exchange support
* Video records in MP4 format
* New Search widget
* New Gmail application
One of the big thins to notice in this update (not the only big thing mind you) is the GPS fix thats mentioned half way down the list.
You should be able to grab the update now by checking for updates in the settings menu on your Galaxy S.

Apparently T mobile UK are delaying this update till December. And they even insisted that they would give us the update during September. Will I use T mobile again – No.
Lame! Similar thing with many carriers it seems though on any update. They like to tinker around and push bloatware in to the Android builds. Hopefully the Gingerbread update will sort that problem out in the future.
