The Samsung Galaxy S will be landing in China soon. The device will be landing on all three carriers which means that three different versions will be launched due to different radios used.
The first is a CDMA variant for China Telecom that will be called the SCH-I909. It is expected that this model could be the same Samsung Fascinate that is launching on the Verizon [VZ] network tomorrow.
China Mobile will be getting a TD-SCDMA version. TD-SCDMA is 3G technology that works different to WCDMA to avoid patents and paying bills to Europe to use the technology. The model going to China Mobile will be the GT-I9008.
China Unicom will be getting a WCDMA version (3.5G version) known as the GT-I9088.
The Samsung Galaxy S has been a good seller in the US with figures showing that within the first two weeks that over 1 million had been sold on the various carriers who offered it for those two weeks.
“China is one of the fastest growing mobile markets and offers great potential. I am very pleased to introduce Samsung Galaxy S, which has been customized for the needs of Chinese consumers. I hope that Chinese consumers will enjoy the real value of the smart mobile experience with Samsung Galaxy S,” said JK Shin, President and Head of the Mobile
Prices are not known just yet for the Samsung Galaxy S models in China although announcements will be made soon.
