The Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note will each get an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The details were confirmed by Samsung in Italy who also said that the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus would also be getting the update.
Although the above list has been provided, it doesn’t particularly mean that these are the only Samsung smartphones and tablets that will get the update. Samsung hasn’t commented on older devices and also hasn’t commented on the specs needed to get the update.
Other manufacturers such as HTC have confirmed that they are looking in to updating devices to Android 4.0, but at the moment they haven’t provided a list of devices it will be pushed out to. Expect to hear more about updates over the next few weeks and particularly when the Galaxy Nexus launches.
