Saudi Arabia has allowed the BlackBerry messaging services to continue as normal after if gave a 48 hour dead line to get things put right. It appears that RIM has kept the Saudi regulators happy with Saudi Arabia saying a positive development had happened.
It isn’t clear exactly what was done to keep things alive, although speculation indicates that… “CITC will now be able to monitor communications via messaging services,”. Basically it means that encryption codes have been handed over.
This information comes from a Saudi telecom official who spoke to the Wall Street Journal.
It isn’t clear if this is just a temporary solution or if all the problems have been resolved. We should see more problems later on this year when the United Arab Emirates case opens up.
