Sharp is to launch a couple of e-Reader tablet devices later this year. They will be both called the Sharp Galapagos and will come in two versions one of which will have a 5.5 inch screen and a 1024 x 600 pixel display. The second model will be a larger 10.8 inch device with a resolution of 1366 x 800 pixels.
Each device will have an LCD screen. For connectivity they will have 802.11b/g wireless and for navigation they will have a trackball.
Each device is scheduled to be launched in December of this year and the launch will be accompanied by the launch of 30,000 newspapers, magazines and books for reading on the device.
The launch of these devices looks to be limited to Japan only with an international launch not mentioned and possibly, unlikely.
