Engadget managed to get some hands-on time with the Skiff e-reader that we mentioned a couple of days ago.
The Skiff has an 11.5 inch screen that has an impressive resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels. It allows a full newspaper page to be loaded up with ads and yet be still readable. The e-reader is not a one off device as we are looking at a publishing platform here. Four different devices are being loocked at including a colour e-reader and applications to load up on the Palm Pre as well a the Viliv MID.
As well as applications for the above mentioned devices an application for the iPhone will also be worked on allowing books and content to be synchronised across all the platforms.
It’s certainly a device that looks the part. Depending on how the launch will go and how the platform performs it could be a good competitor to the Kindle.
