R2-D2 Tissue Dispenser

star_wars_tissue_holder_wxpWe just mentioned earlier today that R2-D2 always gets the attention (hence why the R2-Q5 USB Hub was created). Yet again, R2-D2 steals the spotlight again and comes to you in the shape of a tissue paper dispenser.

Although this R2-D2 paper dispenser was designed for the bathroom, it could be used anywhere in the home such as the kitchen. [Read more…]

Augmented Reality Business Card

Augmented-Reality-Business-CardMany business cards are boring to be honest. Most, if not all just show your name, rank and how you can be contacted. A guy named James Alliban has decided to used augmented reality to create his business cards. The cards were printed at moo.com and on the back contain a graphic which is then captured on to a computer via a webcam. When the camera picks up the little graphic a cool 3D grid of coloured planes pops up, each extruding towards the camera depending on the brightness of the pixel, and then a video can be played back with the business card owner being seen talking with a message about himself. Snowcorn Sixth Sense Concept Device

Snowcorn is a bracelet with a camera, projector and wi-fi built in. Of course it’s a concept device as can be seen by the ultra small size and 3D renderings, but I still thought it was worth a mention here.

Snorcorn is designed to be worn around your hand and when browsing through books, maps and the likes it projects an image on to the surface of what you are looking at. [Read more…]

R2-Q5 for those who Want something Different

Star-Wars-R2-Q5-USB-HubR2-D2 is always one of the droids you think of when you see Star Wars. The R2-Q5 USB Hub was designed for those who want something different though.

R2-Q5 was a droid that only appears in Return of the Jedi along with a couple of Lego Star Wars games. The only real difference with this droid is that it’s painted black with red accents and simply just looks different to the usual R2 hub that you see occasionally on someone’s desk. [Read more…]

Windows Mobile Version HTC G2

htc-magic-winmoNormally when you hear of HTC and the G1, G2, Magic, Hero or whatever else you automatically think Android as those ranges of phones by HTC are specifically built for the Android OS.

We then came across the Windows Mobile Version HTC G2 and something about it just doesn’t seem right. The phone, which is pretty much a clone, will be powered by a Huawei K3 460MHz processor, support quadband connectivity on GSM and EDGE and the weird thing is that it’s Windows Mobile 6.1 based. Save 83% on Astratec TOPD3 Freeview Digital Set Top Box

FreeviewFor today only, CDiscount in the UK are offering 83% off the Astratec TopD3 Freeview Digital Set Top Box. Rather then the usual £29.99 they are selling it today for £4.99. If you need a digital set top box for cheap then I recommend checking them out as that’s not a bad price at all.

There is a reason for the huge discount though and it’s related to Setanta Sports which this set top box was intended to be used for. Basically, Setanta sports recently ceased to broadcast making it not possible to upgrade to that package. However, it still will give you access to over 40 channels for free. [Read more…]

Is Apple Offering Anti-Glare MacBook Screens?

macbook-pro-gold-glareWhen the iPhone was launched it came with a nice glossy screen, covered in glass that helped give a crystal clear and sharp display. A couple of years ago these glass-enclosed screens were put on new macs and MacBooks and it worked quite well… for most people that is.

However, some users are not into super shiny screens as they can be often awkward to work with due to light reflecting off the screen making it sometimes hard to read. A rumour is saying that Apple will be looking at extending their anti-glare screens that are only currently available for 17″ macbooks for $50. [Read more…]
