iPhone 5 Could get NFC Built In

Apple [AAPL] only just released the iPhone 4 within the last couple of months which of course naturally leads us on to speculating what will or wont be made available in the iPhone 5 when it launches next year.

Recently, Apple hired an NFC expert (Near Field Communications) as a Product Manager for Mobile Commerce.

Most recently Vigier was product manager for mobile wallet, payment and NFC at US mobile payments specialist mFoundry. There he conceived and managed both the PayPal Mobile service and Starbucks’ barcode-based mobile payments service and was also responsible for the development of mobile wallet applications for two top US mobile network operators and an NFC wallet application for a top three US bank.

Inkless Metal Pen

The Inkless Metal Pen has a tip made of solid lead. When writing on paper with it, small amounts of the metal are left on the paper. This allows the pen to last for a long time (the company selling it say “endless”) as only a tiny amount of metal is left on the paper.

There is no need to sharpen it or refill it and it is capable of writing on any surface.

The Inkless Metal Pen features a tip made from solid lead. As you write, tiny amounts of the metal are deposited onto the page. The silvery markings may resemble pencil, but they are permanent and completely smudge-proof.

Because it doesn’t require sharpening or refills, the Inkless Metal Pen is an amazing gift for artists or doodlers. Its “ink” is solid, so it will never leak, and it can be used upside down or under extreme conditions. The Inkless Metal Pen works on most any writing surface and features a stainless steel barrel.

The new Xbox 360 slim has been hacked so that it can play backup disks. The hack has been done before on previous Xbox’s and from what we understand, Microsoft [MSFT] were not happy and basically blocked any hacked console from accessing Xbox Live.

We assume they will follow along and do the same when this hack is released.

The hack is quite complicated at the moment from what we understand and is not ready for launch just yet till it can be made simple enough for average users to use. [Read more…]

Use PayPal to Pay Google Android Apps – Coming Soon Maybe

Google [GOOG] will soon allow PayPal to be another method to pay for Android apps from the Android Market. Currently there are two options available with the first being Google Checkout and the second being carrier billing (which is slowly rolling out). Adding PayPal to that mix opens up more chances of developers to pay for apps with a more common billing system.

Although adding PayPal as a payment method wont suddenly make developers in to millionaires, good apps are needed for that, it will still open it up to people who do not want a Google Checkout account, but already have a PayPal account. [Read more…]

How to Run Android on the HTC HD2

We’ve mentioned before that the HTC HD2 is capable of running Android thanks to some work done by guys over at the XDA Developers forums.

The reasons you might want to install Android on a Windows Mobile device is that the hardware is great but the current OS is just bad. It also won’t be eligible for a Windows Phone 7 update leaving users with Windows Mobile 6.5.

If you are unsure how you can put Android 2.1 on the HTC HD2 designed for Windows Mobile 6.5, check out the details below. They must be followed step by step as doing anything like this voids warranty and has the potential to make your HD2 in to an expensive brick. [Read more…]

Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot Launches

Vodafone has launched a new Wireless Mobile broadband hotspot. The mobile WiFi, or MiFi, allows up to 5 wireless devices to attach up to it and share a 3G or HSDPA signal depending on the area where you use it.

The Vodafone model is made by the same company who make the Three MiFi, Huawei and works very similar to the Three model in that you switch it on, it connects to a 3G or HSDPA network and then allows up to five wireless devices to easily connect. Unlike the older mobile broadband modems that required you install software to connect up to the 3G services, the MiFi models have software built in that connects up for you and allow anybody to connect by entering the correct encryption key. Dell Streak will Jump direct to Android 2.2 in the US

Over here in the UK, a leaked Android 2.1 firmware was made available to download for the Dell Streak on the O2 network. It isn’t clear at the moment if this is an official ROM that O2 will eventually release, or if it was a test ROM.

Over in the US, it appears that the Dell Streak will skip Android 2.1 and jump straight to Android 2.2. This information comes from a member of staff at Dell who posted an answer on Twitter…

@dzerveviktory Honest answer is that it’s complicated. From the info I have, current plan in the US is to go right to Froyo. #dellstreak
