Samsung Galaxy Tab Release Date Could be Delayed

Amazon in the UK has just shifted the Samsung Galaxy Tab release date from October to November on its website.

This could mean that a delay is expected and that nowhere will get it till at least November sometime. It isn’t known either if this will effect all retailers and carriers who will sell it, or if it’s just an Amazon thing (other than Expansys in the UK who has also changed the date to November 2). Right now there is no official word from Samsung about when it will be launched.

When launched, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will have a price tag of £599.99 at Amazon and at Expansys, it will cost £639.99. It isn’t clear if these are final prices either as we have seen prices a lot higher than that elsewhere. [Read more…]

Orange San Francisco Android Smartphone Announced

Orange has announced the Orange San Francisco Android based smartphone. The San Francisco is the first Orange branded Android smartphone and will also be the first of others to follow.

Price wise, it falls in to the budget category at £99 and can be purchased along with a pay as you go Dolphin tariff.

Specifications reveal that the San Francisco has a 3.5 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The camera on the back can capture images at 3 megapixels. For connectivity it has WiFi, Bluetooth and USB as well as SatNav mentioned which we assume means GPS.

Halo: Reach – 31 Million Games Played Since Release!

Halo: Reach – 31 million games played since release!!!!!!!

So as of today, one week since launch day and already 31,000,000 games have been played on Halo: Reach whether it be Firefight, Online Coop, or Campaign mode. 31,000,000 games – that completely wipes out what Halo 3 did for the highest number of concurrent simultaneous players online at once which reached well over 700,000.

Nikon Coolpix Projector Camera Shipping for $350

Nikon has launched the Coolpix S1100pj camera. This particular model is fairly unique in that it has a pico style projector built in so that images captured can be displayed on a wall or other surface.

The built in projector is capable of displaying an image up to about 47 inches diagonally.

Other features included in the Nikon Projector camera are a 14.1 megapixel sensor, a lens that is capable of 5 times optical zoom as well as a three inch touchscreen on the back. The screen is LCD. [Read more…]

Yahoo Mail Update Incoming

Yahoo Mail just went through an update to bring the interface and its built in features more up todate with how the web runs today.

The new Yahoo Mail web interface will be smoother and more sleeker than previous versions allowing it to run quicker. A number of social elements are also being built in to the service which includes integration with Flicr and YouTube allowing embedded content to be accessed more easily. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS Incoming

On September 23, a new iOS 4.1 jailbreak will be released for the iPhone 3GS and lower devices. This means that for iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4th gen users, you will still have to wait around for another option.

The jailbreak software is called Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and when available, will allow Windows users to create custom firmware files that prevent the baseband being updated when you upgrade the firmware on the phone. What this in turn does is allows you to use Ultrasn0w to unlock the phone so that it can be used on any carrier you want (or any compatible carrier we should say). [Read more…]

Gmail Gets Extra Security

Google [GOOG] is introducing a second level of security to its Gmail services. Right now, you only need a password and email address to log in to the service. The second layer will add a PIN code to the login process.

The service is only available to Google Apps Premier, Education, and Government Editions of the Gmail service at the moment and is not enabled by default. If you are a company admin looking after Gmail for the company you work for, you can enable the services through the admin interface. [Read more…]

Microsoft Mobile Stragegy is Software for Every Platform

Microsoft [MSFT] over the years has branched out down a number of avenues such as creating the Xbox, smartphones and various other bits of hardware.

One thing that it does well is software. As Microsoft hasn’t had success in some areas, think of the Kin, the company is shifting its main focus back to software.

In an interview with the WSJ the following was said…

“We are in the software business and that is where our business will be focused,” he said. That means no follow-ups to the Kin social media smartphone, definitely; no resuscitation of the Courier e-reader/tablet project, probably; and a new focus on making apps for other platforms, quite possibly.

Internet Explorer 9 reaches 2 million downloads in its first 48 hours

We posted earlier that IE 9 would not be running on Windows with XP and it looks as though 2 million people aren’t too worried about that either especially as those 2 million downloads were all with in IE 9’s first 48 hours.

HTC Desire HD Screen Shots

Thanks to the HTC Desire HD ROM leak, a number of screenshots have been captured of what the new ROM will look like when it launches. The screenshots were captured thanks to the HTC HD2 Desire HD ROM port that was released yesterday.

New features on the ROM include the latest version of HTC Sense that will soon have the ability to interface with HTCSense.com.

During the account setup, we see that the ability to create a HTC Sense account has been provided (screen shot below). This will allow the device to synchronise with the sense service to back up data as well as an option to download new themes for the Desire HD (or HD2 in this case). [Read more…]
