Apple 27 Inch Cinema Display Now Shipping

We found hints earlier this week that Apple [AAPL] was gearing up to start selling the 27 inch Cinema display.

Good news for all those looking out for it is that it’s now here and ready for purchase.

The screen it’s self was announced back in July and at that time, was given a release date of just late September. Good news is that it’s almost late September and it is available from Apple. [Read more…]

Facebook Places Now Available in the UK

Good news for those waiting for Facebook Places to activate in the UK. A quick check earlier today on my iPhone 4 shows that it is now active.

The Facebook Places service is said to be similar to apps like Foursquare. The app basically tracks where you are and publishes it on your feed in Facebook. Essentially, you just check in when you arrive at a location and it lets your friends see where you are so they can join you if they wish.

The downsides of Facebook Places is that it’s first off, enabled by default and allows your friends to check you in by default. Secondly, we have seen a number of reports on Facebook of people simply saying it’s not as good as Foursquare. [Read more…]

Air Display gets Windows Support

Air Display is an app that you run on your iPad that allows you to expand the screen real estate of your computer.

Until now, Air Display has only been available to install on Mac based computers. No Air Display Windows software existed that allowed you to send the contents of a second screen on to your iPad.

The software is relatively easy to use on the Windows PC side of things. All you need to do is download the app on the iPad, download the accompanying software on to your Windows based PC, set up a few options such as iPad location in relevance to your laptop/computer screen and you are good to go. Google TV Via Logitechs New Box out 29th Sept’ ???

Its been reported that the 29th of September is to be the release date for Logitechs new Google TV box. A good few weeks earlier than at first rumored. So those pining after this may be more than satisfied.

Its been named as the Logitech Revue,  though with a fairly hefty price tag of $299, will the Google box still attract the consumer to investing their hard-earned cash especially when Apple will have their own version for only $99? Will this phase Google? [Read more…]

New Apple TV iOS Can Be Jailbroken

Apple [AAPL] announced the new Apple TV a few weeks back and at that time, said it would be shipping soon at the end of September.

What we have learned about the device is that it could run iOS for an operating system thanks to a few details spotted in a configuration descriptor on another iOS device.

The Apple TV doesn’t run the regular springboard application that you see on other iOS based devices, but it could still be possible (if it runs iOS) that some form of jailbreak could happen. [Read more…]

New competitor for Apple’s iPad: The Samsung Galaxy Tablet Out Next Month

Could this be the iPad killer?? There’s a veritable plethora of reasons why it could be.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab will be on sale in the US as of next month, across many of the major networks such as Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint. As already mentioned in a previous post found here, we know of rumours dotted around the internet at the moment of prices for the Galaxy Tab ranging from between $200 – $400 on contract and around $600 – $700 as an unlocked package so nothing set in stone just yet. But later rumours spreading now sees pricing to over a grand in Europe alone (is this too much??) and as usual with wireless networks these days and based on their own marketing projects we’re still unsure on contract prices.

Brain Training Coming to Kinect

The brain training game everybody knows and loves on the Nintendo DS is making its way to Kinect as a sequel next year.

Its a far cry from the action you see in many games being released at the moment. So, at least for the more intellectual or those just up for a bit of fun, this new instalment will be more than welcome when its released for Kinect as it hits stores in November.

5 Exclusive Kinect Games By Japanese Developers

As with all new consoles or peripherals, they tend to triumph or fall by the wayside depending on the games that are available for them. It was the same with the original Xbox on release day and it was true for the Playstation 3 as well. This is all the more true for Microsoft’s Kinect. Unfortunately, at E3 earlier this year, our confidence wasn’t garnered with plenty of new games to satisfy our hunger for new games that would make Kinect that must have peripheral. But more recently it was announced at TGS that 5 new and exclusive Kinect titles will be released which actually show plenty of promise.

Below you’ll find details of the games to be released, though some details may be sparse, you’ll gain a better impression of what to look out for. [Read more…]
