Dell Inspiron Duo 10 inch Netbook / Tablet Hybrid Demoed

Dell has demoed a rather crazy looking convertible netbook/tablet device. The new device is called the Dell Inspiron Duo 10 (we think…) and has a screen that swivels around to make the netbook in to a tablet form factor.

Rather than using a central hinge attached to the base of the netbook, this particular model has a screen frame that has two contact points at each time. The screen then rotates within the frame which can then be folded back down as needed which puts the screen on the outside of the device. [Read more…]

Along with 3.0 being a more friendly OS for tablets, it is also believed that apps launched in to the Market for 3.0 will also have more friendly tablet apps much in a similar way to how the iPad has specific apps.

Verizon [VZ] is launching V CAST Apps. This service is an app store that will be similar in some ways to any other app store such as the Android Market. V CAST Apps is for Android 2.2 OS based smartphones.

The Android Market is a fairly open platform that allows a lot of apps to be published by developers. Unfortunately, there is a lot of junk in there. Verizon want to clean up this junk and has created V CAST Apps which allows developers to submit apps for free. If the apps adhere to the guidelines then they are published in the new app store.

It is expected that V CAST Apps will launch in the next week or so at the Verizon developers conference. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 HDR Lands on iPhone 3GS and 3G – Unofficially

Last week we found information that indicated HDR photography in iOS 4.1 could be hacked on to the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. The official iOS 4.1 update that also launched last week only allows the iPhone 4 to capture HDR pictures.

This of course, is no longer the case thanks to a few smart people who managed to enable the option on older iPhone models.

Redmond Pie has put together a guide for those who have managed to jailbreak their iOS 4.1 (3G or 3GS). The How To guide goes through several steps on how to enable the feature. The easier way will be through a Cydia app that is being prepped for launch, but until it comes you’ll need to use this longer method to enable the feature. [Read more…]
