WarnLaser Razor Series Violet Laser Review

We recently received a violet laser for review to see what it can do and what it’s all about. Receiving a violet laser is a welcomed change to the many green lasers we have seen over the last few years.

One quick warning before we continue. The violet laser is rated too high to be classed as a laser pointer to be used for presentations, so if you are wanting to use one for that, look at something with a lower output. Also, don’t be stupid and point it at people or any moving objects.

The laser we received is rated at 20mW (the lowest in this range) and when switched on, it gives off a slightly blue color although that depends on the surface you are pointing it at. This particular laser isn’t powerful enough to clearly see the beam like you can on the larger 125mW green lasers, so for star gazing you best stick with green. [Read more…]

Major Problems Caused by Android 2.1 Update on Dell Streak

When O2 pushed out the Android 2.1 update to Dell Streak users it caused a number of problems. Features that were there before were removed such as the Facebook widget, Windows Media Video playback and PC syncronisation.

If all went well with the install then the problems just continued with some having applications and data removed. For those who have made backups, there were also problems restoring the backups. [Read more…]

iPad Camera Accessory Incoming – Rumor

We’ll take this one with a pinch of salt, but there are rumours going around that the Apple iPad could get an external camera to make FaceTime calls with it.

This rumour started because of the iOS 4.2 release date of November being mentioned last week at the Apple Special Event. In that presentation, Steve Jobs said that everything goes to the iPad for iOS 4.2 which included HDR photography amongst other things. The problem is that the iPad can’t do HDR without a camera and certainly can’t make FaceTime calls. [Read more…]

The Samsung Galaxy Tab UK price hasn’t been officially announced yet although it hasn’t prevented some places from speculating on the price.

Next up is Clove in the UK who has priced the Galaxy Tab up at £617 which takes it to around the $950 price point in USD. This price point gets you a 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab that is SIM free and not locked on to a contract.

Samsung Orion 1GHz Dual-Core ARM Cortex A9 Chip Announced

The Samsung Galaxy S has a fast CPU inside that allows it to shift three times the amount of triangles when compared to a Nexus One and iPhone 3GS.

The chip used inside is about to seem old though after a new announcement came today about a chip called the Samsung Orion. The Orion runs at 1GHz, but rather than being a single core device, it’s a dual-core which brings more power to devices it is used in.

The chip is an ARM Cortex A9 that Samsung say can achieve the following… “5 times the 3D graphics performance over the previous processor generation from Samsung,”. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab $1019 on Amazon.de

The price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is looking rather random at the moment, partly because Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement. We are not sure if prices are to be fully believed online. The US price is supposedly somewhere between $200 and $400 while the UK price is £679.99 over on Expansys which is the equivalent of $1045 at todays exchange rate.

Over in Germany the price tag has been revealed on Amazon at the equivalent of $1019 which almost lines up with the UK pricing.

We are guessing at the moment that Expansys and Amazon in the UK and Germany respectively, will be selling the device unlocked with no contract. If the US pricing is to be believed then it looks to be selling with contract. [Read more…]

Nike+ GPS App Requires No External Sensor

Nike has created a new Nike+ app for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets users track their running progress without using the external sensor attached to a shoe.

The new app called Nike+ GPS is compatible with the iPhone 4, 3GS and the iPod touch 2nd gen through 4th gen. Of course the iPod touch doesn’t have a GPS sensor. For those with a touch, you’ll be restricted to tracking runs through the accelerometer which means you wont get maps of your run (unless you have an external GPS case). [Read more…]
