Limera1n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Released

Last time we heard, Geohot had left the iOS jailbreak scene. We now see that he is back and has released Limera1n. Limera1n allows you to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on several devices which includes the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G all using 4.0-4.1.

The new iOS 4.1 jailbreak uses a different exploit to what the GreenPois0n jailbreak does and because of this, the team behind GreenPois0n (that uses SHAtter), have decided to delay the launch so that Apple [AAPL] doesn’t have the opportunity to patch two exploits. [Read more…]

3DS Will Suffer A Shorter Battery Life

Equally, I have a lovely, lovely new phone and again the battery life takes quite the beating if everything is switched on. Usually its down to the automatic updates, auto syncing and the like and any other big, signature features that tend to suck the battery juice dry.

iPhone 4 Glass Scratches

The glass back of the iPhone is prone to scratching. Scratching the back is as easy as sitting the phone on a desk and sliding it along.

As well as being able to easily scratch the back, the glass is also scratched when using some third-party cases. This happens when some dust gets trapped between the case and the back of the phone and when the case is slid on or off.

The Apple store has a lack of cases available for the phone and instead, is now just offering the bumper case on the site. [Read more…]

Nokia N8 Teardown

iFixit has followed tradition and has now managed to get hold of a Nokia N8 to tear apart.

The N8s unique feature is that it has a 12 megapixel camera sensor. To cram the sensor in, Nokia actually made the camera protrude out of the case a little to keep the casing thinner.

The camera flash uses a Xenon flash tube that is similar to those found in real cameras. [Read more…]
