Apple is believed to have increased its order of 50 million iPhones for the second half of 2011 up to 56 million. Digitimes reports that about half of these orders are for the new iPhone 5 model which could launch next month. The other half are expected to be a mixture of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

Google Ready to Acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5B
Google has announced that it will be acquiring Motorola Mobility for about $12.5 billion USD. This amount is calculated based on $40 per share in cash.
The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.
Mozilla Firefox 6 Beta Download Released Early
Mozilla has released its new browser, Firefox 6 (beta), a couple of days early. Although not available for download direct on its website, anybody is able to pick up version 6 from Mozillas FTP server (links at the bottom of this post).
Google+ Games Announced
Just before Facebook launched its revamped games section on the site, Google also announced the addition of games on Google+.
Facebook Gaming Updated
Facebook has updated its gaming platform today. The new version was launched within hours of Google launching games on the Google+ platform.
Android Ice Cream Sandwich Screenshots Leak
Some screenshots reveal that Android Ice Cream Sandwich has been leaked. The screenshots show the new version of the Android operating system running on a Google Nexus S smartphone.
Several changes include a new notification bar and a new colour scheme. The about screen also indicates that Google hasn’t come up with a version number for the operating system yet although we’ve seen speculation in the past.
Nokia N9 Not Arriving in Germany
This week has seen a few announcements about the new Nokia N9. First we heard that it wasn’t going to be going to the US. We then heard the N9 wouldn’t launch in the UK. We now hear that it isn’t going to Germany.
Microsoft to Launch Windows Phone 7 Mango on September 1 – Rumour
It is likely that Microsoft will be launching the next version of Windows Phone 7 to users on September 1st. The new update codenamed Mango will be made available to those compatible devices.
Chrome OS Update Rolls Out
Google has rolled out a Chrome OS update that makes it faster at resuming and brings a few new features. Google begins its announcement by saying:

Dell Inspiron 13z and 14z Launched
Dell has launched two new laptops today. The new laptops are the Dell Inspiron 13z and the Inspiron 14z which are classed as being thin and light. Buyers get the choice of either an Intel Core i3 or a Core i5 processor. Each device has a HD screen in a 720p format.
T-Mobile Charges for 200MB Plan Overage Leaked
T-Mobile in the US will soon be changing the way it charges for data on its smallest 200MB data plan. In the past, T-Mobile has run a “no overage” system on their plans. The new plans now mean that you will be charged if you go over the 200MB limit.
Firefox 7 To Use Up to 50 Percent Less Memory
When Mozilla launches Firefox 7 towards the end of September, the memory usage will be a lot less. On average tests have been said to be about 20 to 30 percent although in some cases the saving is as high as 50 percent. The developers have worked on memory leaks and also optimised in other ways to achieve the drop in usage.
