iPhone 4S Headed to China as well as Others on January 13

Apple has announced that it will be launching the iPhone 4S in China on the 13th January. Other countries getting the phone on that date include Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Botswana, British Virgin Islands as well as other countries. 22 countries in total will get the iPhone 4S on Jan 13.

All Phones in Chile Must be Sold Unlocked

Starting Monday January 16 2012, Chile requires that all phones sold must be sold unlocked. This applies to every cellphone. This requirement will mean that any cellphone will work on any compatible network in the country.

CodeYear Gains 127K Users In 3 Days

Codecademy was started just 3 days ago and since launch it has already had 127,000 users sign up to the service. Visiting the welcome page at codeyear.com we can see that a large number of people are interested in learning to code. The site says:

When the iPhone 4S launched a few months ago, a few problems were found such as battery life issues for a number of users as well as what has become known as Audiogate. Audiogate is the issue of outbound calls being muted for some users in some cases.

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook Now Ready for Pre-Order in the US

Samsung has made the Series 5 Ultrabook available for pre-order in the US. The new ultrabooks have price tags of $899.99 and $949.99.

Two models are available for pre-order with one having a 13 inch screen and the other with a 13.3 inch screen.

Angry Birds Downloaded 6.5 Million Times on Christmas Day

Rovio had an impressive Christmas day in terms of the Angry Birds bunch of games. The three games saw a total of 6.5 million downloads on Christmas day alone, many of which will likely to be related to people getting new iOS and Android devices for Christmas.

Quantum Wipeout Race Track Promo Video

Just before Christmas a video was launched showing some Wipeout style vehicles moving around a track made of superconducting magnets. The video is great and really makes you wish it was real… unfortunately its not. Instead, it appears to be an advertisement from Sony about the new Wipeout game.

Kindle Fire Silk Browser Ported to Other Android Devices

Hackers have managed to extract the Silk browser from the Amazon Kindle Fire and port it over to various rooted Android devices. The Silk browser is Amazons attempt to speed up web browsing. It works by calculating some elements of a webpage server side which speeds up processing time. It also attempts to predict what links you will click on so that your next page will be already calculated and ready to download when you want to go to it.

TidyTilt is a small version of the iPad 2 Smart Cover designed just for the iPhone 4/4S. To use the TidyTilt you just fold the case back and create a small stand for the iPhone when in landscape mode, or stand it up for watching movies. The case also acts as a headphone cable wrap.
