By the end of this year, Apple will likely have sold 86.4 million iPhones. This will put them up 82 percent when compared to last years numbers of 47.5 million. Last year Nokia shipped over 100 million smartphones although they will likely drop to 74.4 million for 2011.
Apple’s smartphone shipments are projected to top 86.4 million units in 2011, up 82% from 47.5 million units in 2010. In contrast, Nokia’s smartphone shipments in 2011 will decline to 74.4 million units from over 100 million in 2010, said Luke Lin, analyst for Digitimes Research.
Apple is growing fast although so are other smartphone makers such as Samsung who is expected to be in 3rd place for this year with 67 million shipments.
Take a look at the numbers in the graph above to see the 2011 estimates and 2010 figures and who is growing and by how much. Nokia seems to be the only company on the list who is seeing declines although with the Windows Phone devices coming soon, we might see some recovery.
