Over at MWC, Google announced that the Android Market now has 150,000 apps available for download. This amount is triple what it was 9 months ago when developers had collectively submitted 50,000 apps in total.
Numbers were estimated at recently to be around the 200K mark, although it turns out that this was a slight over estimate. However, 150,000 apps is still a good achievement.
Google of course, launched the web version of the Android Market which also makes it easier for Android users to discover and download new apps that are then sent to their smartphone. This is another way that will get more developers interested in the platform as they will see more people downloading apps.
With Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets joining the ranks over the coming months, expect a large number of apps to either be created directly for the tablet form factor, or modified for the tablet form factor. This again will spur the number of apps being made available. We expect 2011 and 2012 to be certainly interesting for Google Android.
