Apple has launched iTunes Match to developers. The service is available for those enrolled in the iOS developer program and can be activated with the latest iTunes 10.5 beta 6.1 download that was just made available.
When connecting up your iOS device to the new version of the beta iTunes, your device will then get an extra option in the settings which allows you to enable/disable it as needed.
As for pricing, the iTunes Match service will cost $24.99 per year with those subscribing early getting 3 months free.
iTunes Match is a service that scans your library of ripped CDs and when it finds matches, it authorises you to use its DRM-free 256kbps AAC file. By doing this it prevents the need for you to upload ALL of your content to the cloud which saves a lot of time if you have many tracks. The price point above lets you match up to 25,000 songs. If for some reason Apple cannot match the song on your computer, it will upload that track to the cloud.
iTunes Match will launch along side iOS 5.
