It was earlier this week that Gizmodo released pictures of what is believed to be the official Apple iPhone 4G that is due to launch in June/July this year. Although it isn’t 100% clear that this is going to be the final version of the next gen iPhone, aka iPhone HD, it 99.9% resembles what we will probably see in June or July.
John Gruber of Daring Fireball has looked in to the whole iPhone 4G events of this week and covers various details such as how the iPhone left the campus, what the codes resemble on the back and a few other items.
The iPhone 4G left the Apple [AAPL] campus because it was authorised to do so. Gruber mentions that were allowed to take the iPhone off campus although they were not allowed to show them to anybody and they had to be disguised in a case to make it look like an iPhone 3G/3GS.
The barcode on the back said N90_DVT_GE4X_0493 which when translated to “English” basically means the N90 is a code name for the iPhone 4th gen with the DVT referring to design verification test with phones reaching DVT status resembling almost what will be launched.
Details of the legal implications are also discussed over on Daring Fireball. Of course a lot of this could all be just made up to sound a little more dramatic, but from what it seems like Gizmodo could be in trouble.
