Apple Motion Control Keyboard Could Replace Mouse

The diagram here shows a concept idea from a patent which indicates Apple has looked in to, or considered, getting rid of the mouse and replacing it with motion sensors on the keyboard.

More iPad Camera Rumors Hint It’ll Get iPod Touch Camera

Some digging around the latest SDK from Apple has revealed that the iPad 2 might get a camera similar, if not the same, as the current generation iPod touch. This means it will be somewhere in the region of 0.7 to 1 Megapixels. This is referring to the camera on the back of the iPad. As for the iPad camera on the front, expect it to be of VGA quality.

The information in the SDK was listed under the name of K94 which 9to5Mac have been told is a codename for the iPad 2. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Dual Boot to Windows 7 and Android

The HTC HD2 is now capable of dual booting in to either Windows Phone 7 or Android thanks to the guys at XDA Developers.

To do this, you need to have a couple of SD cards ie, an 8GB and 16GB card. You need two cards so that you can create the needed partitions and once done, you copy the smaller card partition to the larger card. [Read more…]

Apple App Store Statistics Show 10 Billion Downloads

About a week ago we heard that the Apple App Store was approaching the 10 billion app download mark. Over this weekend, the 10 billionth app was downloaded.

The person who downloaded the 10 billionth app was from Kent in the UK and is called Gail Davis. The app is called Paper Glider and is a free app that simply is used to see who can throw a paper airplane the furthest. [Read more…]

Universal iPhone 4 Bumper Works with Verizon and AT&T

When Verizon announced the iPhone 4 recently, a couple of subtle changes were spotted. These revolved around the top left side of the phone where the volume buttons and mute switch are. With the slight change to the antenna on the Verizon model, the mute switch was pushed down slightly as were the up and down volume buttons. This raised a few questions about cases and what will happen.

What we see above is a picture of exactly what will happen. The two volume buttons will retain the same location as the AT&T bumper and the mute switch will be cut out a little wider to accommodate the mute switch in the higher AT&T location and lower Verizon location. [Read more…]

Cydia Brings Manage Account Feature to iPhone

Cydia for iOS based devices has received quite a big update. The new version allows you to login with Facebook or a Google account and with that login, access all the downloads you have previously used.

Reasons for using this feature is that each time you jailbreak an updated iPhone, you need to reinstall all your apps. The same applies when you get a new iPhone. By authenticating with Cydia with your FaceBook or Google username and password, you’ll have access to download all the apps you already had, and you’ll not be charged again for the apps. Palm webOS Tablet Leaked Pics

Some pictures (renders) of the new Palm webOS based tablets have leaked. What we understand is that HP will soon announce the Topaz and Opal tablets.

The Opal will measure 180 x 144 x 13mm and have a 1024 x 768 resolution display that will use TFT LCD screen technology. The Topaz will be a larger model that measures 241 x 190 x 13mm which will be a similar size to the Apple iPad. [Read more…]

Camera Icons Appear in iOS 4.3 Beta 2

As well as finding out that the new multitasking gestures in iOS 4.3 will not be made available in the public release, we also find out that camera icons have been included in the new iOS 4.3 beta 2 update.

Three new icons have been added to beta 2 which are FaceTime, Camera and PhotoBooth. The screenshot seen above is called homeScreenOverlayFaceTime~ipad.png and is a screenshot of the home screen used when selecting a new wallpaper on the device. [Read more…]

iOS 4.3 Will Not Include Multitouch Gestures

With the release of iOS 4.3 Beta 2 yesterday, Apple also announced that the multitouch gestures introduced in the beta versions will not make it to the public release.

This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.

Apple held an earnings call yesterday that indicated that a healthy 366,666 iOS devices are now activated per day.

90 Percent of Data Used by 10 Percent of Users – Study

Researchers have found that 10 percent of data users are responsible for 90 percent of data used on mobile networks.

The information also suggests that in 2011, 60 percent of data usage will be video. With this information in mind, Bytemobile suggests that in 2011 operators will use smart capacity on networks so that data can be kept under control. The smart capacity solutions use a number of functions which include caching, filtering, policy enforcement as well as capacity control, all of which are designed to give users a decent service although high end users might see problems with data running slower.
