Wireless Carriers Could Charge Per Service Accessed

The slide, pictured larger below, shows what the future might look like for those wanting to access the internet on a mobile phone.

The slide comes from a powerpoint presentation that was sent in to Wired recently. What it shows is a plan that could see mobile operators charging per service for that what you use on your smartphone. Examples show Facebook being charged at 2 cents per MB of data while Skype would cost you 3/month to use and YouTube, a restricted version, would cost 50 cents per month. [Read more…]

Kinect Accuracy Could Quadruple with Firmware Update

We hear today that the Microsoft Kinect could be getting a firmware update that couple potentially quadruple the accuracy of the motion sensing controller.

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak to be Untethered by Christmas

MuscleNerd has announced on Twitter that the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak will be untethered by Christmas. Currently, when jailbreaking the latest iOS, you need to tether your iPhone to a computer when you switch off the phone and want to restart it. By making it untethered, it solves that problem.

HTC Wildfire Android 2.2 Update Coming This Week in Europe

The HTC Wildfire Android 2.2 update will be pushed out this week for those in Europe. From what we understand, it will roll out to all European Wildfire smartphones.

Notion Ink Adam Demoed on Video

Over the weekend we received a note from the guys at Android Police letting us know they managed to get hold of a video showing the Notion Ink Adam tablet.

Two videos have now been uploaded which both show what the Adam is capable of. It is believed the Notion Ink Adam tablet runs Android 2.3 (due to the framework being spotted in the video). The tablet runs the Eden UI as well as a bunch of custom apps. It also has USB ports and a HDMI port. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Stopped to $199.99 at US Cellular

US Cellular has discounted the Galaxy Tab down to $199.99 on some 24 month contracts. This discount follows on from the discounted Galaxy Tab that T-Mobile now offers although the US Cellular price is a little cheaper. Read on before you get too excited about the price drop.

US Cellular has dropped the price of the Galaxy Tab down to just $199.99 although this is after a $100 mail-in rebate. The full discount structure is as follows… $599.99 full price, $300 discount for a 24 month agreement and $100 mail-in rebate taking it down to the $199.99. [Read more…]

Google Nexus S Discounted to £429.99

The Google Nexus S release date is today here in the UK. When the price was first announced, the Nexus S weighed in at £549 which was actually higher than the dollar amount in the US, making it very expensive.

Now that the Nexus S is on sale, we see that Carphone Warehouse has dropped the price down to £429.99 which is a nice saving from the original amount. [Read more…]

Sony has announced a new official app for iPhone and Android based smartphones. The app is the official PlayStation App and has been designed to bring a number of PlayStation Network features to the smartphone.

Mac App Store Launch Date is January 6

Apple [AAPL] has announced that the Mac App Store will be launching on January 6. The launch will see the app store arrive in 90 countries around the globe and will offer a mixture of paid and free applications.

“The App Store revolutionized mobile apps,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We hope to do the same for PC apps with the Mac App Store by making finding and buying PC apps easy and fun. We can’t wait to get started on January 6.”
