Mobile Gmail HTML5 Version Now in 44 Languages

Google [GOOG] has announced that Gmail for mobile now works in 44 languages for users using the HTML5 version in the mobile browser on the iPhone and Android based smartphones.

The only language it was available in, right till yesterday, was US English. It is now available in the following languages…

Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English (UK and American), Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian (Bokmal), Polish, Portuguese (for both Portugal and Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish (for both Spain and South America), Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukranian, Urdu and Vietnamese.

HP webOS Tablet Could Launch March 2011

HP is building a webOS based tablet from what we understand. The only release date we have heard is sometime in 2011 which really doesn’t narrow it down too much.

However, an analyst from BMO Capital Markets is now suggesting that the release date will fall somewhere in March 2011. [Read more…]

Apple [AAPL] has posted a job listing that requests a Verizon iPad System Engineer. The location is in Cupertino, as expected, and the job role requires someone who has a technical background in Exchange, VPN as well as other enterprise solutions.

Gran Turismo Series Sells 60 Million Units

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc has announced that the Gran Turismo franchise has now exceeded 60 million in sales since it first arrived in December 1997. The franchise has now been running for 12 years and 11 months.

Sales are listed in the image below and start with the original that sold 10.78 million copies and moves on to Gran Turismo 2, 3 A-Spec, Concept 2001 Tokyo and on to various Prologue versions and then finally 4 and 5. Total sales have hit 61.41 million. [Read more…]

New Apple LCDs to be Built in new Toshiba Plant

We hear today that Toshiba is about to make a new plant that will be responsible for making LCDs for Apple [AAPL] products. The new plant will cost around $1.2bn and the LCDs it will manufacture will be small, perhaps specifically for the iPhone, iPod range of products.

The screens being built are high resolution, perhaps retina displays or similar. The current factory that Toshiba has is capable of building 8.55 million screens per month. The new factory is expected to produce double that amount. [Read more…]

Angry Birds Now at 50 Million Downloads

Rovio has announced that they have hit 50 million downloads of the popular Angry Birds series of games.

The breakdown wasn’t fully complete when Vesterbacka spoke to TechCrunch, but what he did say was that 10 million of those were downloads on Android and we suspect that the majority of the rest will lean towards iOS rather than webOS versions. [Read more…]

Nexus S at Best Buy – Two Per Customer

The Nexus S is launching this coming Thursday over in the US. For those wanting to get hold of it, one of the options is Best Buy who have now released the details of what you can expect on December 16.

Best Buy will open at 8am and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis with varying inventory across the stores in the US. A maximum of two Nexus S smartphones will be made available per customer. [Read more…]

The T-Mobile G2 has dropped in price and is now available from T-Mobile for $49.99.

Google Update the Android Market

For those of you running Google Android 1.6 and above, the company has now updated the Android Market to a new version. This new version brings a few new features that helps you to purchase apps more easily although it’s not rolled out to all devices just yet. The release will be happening over the coming weeks.

With a focus on improving discoverability and merchandising, we’ve introduced a new carousel on the home and category screens. Users can quickly flip through the carousel to view promoted applications and immediately go to the download page for the application they want. Developers have been very active in creating great Widgets and Live Wallpapers. To make it easier for users to find their favorites, we’re introducing two new categories for Widgets and Live Wallpapers. Applications that include Widgets and Wallpapers will be automatically added to those new categories.

iPad Mini Rumors Resurface

Although Steve Jobs said there was no chance a smaller 7 inch iPad would be built, the rumors still wont die. We now hear from Reuters who cite an Asian manufacturing source who says a smaller, half sized iPad is currently being manufactured.

There aren’t any other rumors to accompany this one other than the source indicating that this particular model will sit right between the iPod touch and the regular iPad. Some features we can predict if this rumor ends up being true is that it will have a higher res screen as well as a couple of cameras one of which for FaceTime calls. [Read more…]

Angry Birds Seasons is now available for those running a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. The app can be downloaded from the App Catalog and costs $1.99.

iPhone Infinity Blade is Fastest Grossing iOS App

Infinity Blade for iOS devices launched last week on December 9th. Already it has become the fastest selling app beating the record that “Cut the Rope” had set a few months previously.

In terms of numbers, 271,424 people downloaded the game in the first 3 days. The game is priced at $5.99 which means it has grossed $1,625,829.76 at that point on December 12 when the 271K downloads had been captured. [Read more…]
