Nexus S Release Date and Pricing Revealed for US/UK

Yesterday was a good day for Android fans as we saw the Android 2.3 OS being made available to Nexus One owners and we also got the Nexus S release date which is confirmed as being December 16 in the US and December 20 in the UK.

We also now know the price tag for the Nexus S and have found that in the US, it will be priced at $199 locked on contract for 2 years or if you prefer it unlocked and off contract, it costs $529. Best Buy in the US will have exclusive rights to sell the Nexus S. [Read more…]

Android 3.0 Demo on Motorola Tablet at Dive into Mobile

At the Dive into Mobile event held last night, Andy Rubin was demoing a Motorola Tablet device running Google Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).

The tablet is called the MOTOPAD which is a prototype model that was used for the demonstration. As expected, Honeycomb is designed for the tablet. When booting up you get a new lock screen and once past that you get a new designed home screen “desktop” that contains widgets and buttons. [Read more…]

iPad 2 to Begin Shipping Late February

DigiTimes is reporting today that Apple [AAPL] has notified Foxconn that the iPad 2 must begin shipping as early as the end of February 2011.

As the source is DigiTimes, it doesn’t 100% guarantee this is true although shipping at the end of February would tie in with an iPad 2 release date of perhaps, sometime early April which is 1 year after the launch of the original iPad. [Read more…]

Google Nexus S Release Date – Dec 16 US, Dec 20 UK

The Google Nexus S release date has been revealed as December 16 in the US and December 20 in the UK.

The Nexus S was made official today by Google. The device is made by Samsung and has a 4 inch WVGA screen. The processor running inside is a 1GHz Cortex A8 Himmingbird. It has 512MB of RAM and 16GB of storage built in. [Read more…]

Google has announced the Android 2.3 operating system today along with releasing the 2.3 SDK/NDK.

Android 2.3 brings a number of new features to compatible smartphones such as better support for games and better support for developers. Kinect Planted on Quadrocopter for Obstacle Avoidance

We keep seeing Kinect hacks each day and often think that the limits have been reached and that the creativity has almost reached its end… and then another Kinect hack shows up.

This time, the Kinect has been sat on top of a quadrocopter which in turn, gives the quadrocopter abilities to navigate around objects. The quadrocopter here has been given a pre-defined course and manages to scan the surrounding area to figure out where the floor is, where objects are and what the nearest point to the quadrocopter is.
