HTC Android 3.0 Tablet Could Launch Q1 2011

According to Digitimes, HTC could be launching an Android 3.0 based tablet in the first quarter of 2011. Android 3.0 AKA Gingerbread, is believed to be the tablet friendly version of the Android OS and is believed to be specifically designed to run on larger screened devices.

Along with 3.0 being a more friendly OS for tablets, it is also believed that apps launched in to the Market for 3.0 will also have more friendly tablet apps much in a similar way to how the iPad has specific apps.

The specific tablet launching by HTC doesn’t have any known details yet and it isn’t clear if this tablet is the same as the rumoured Chrome OS tablet that HTC is also building at the moment. [Read more…]

T-Mobile G2 Specs Officially Announced on HTC Site

HTC has added the T-Mobile G2 to it’s website. Along with the device being listed, we also get another look at all the technical specs of the phone which include the processor, RAM, ROM, Network compatibility, battery capacity and a bunch of other things.

A lot of these details have already been confirmed previously, but now the details have been added to the HTC site, it kind of sets them in stone as it were.

First off, the processor is an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM 7230. It is clocker slower than the 1GHz Snapdragon, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s slower. [Read more…]

Nikon D7000 1080p Digital SLR Announced

The Nikon D7000 Digital SLR has been announced. The new camera has a magnesium allow construction along with a decent price point of $1,200.

Capturing images on the Nikon D7000 is a 16 megapixel sensor. The sensor is capable of capturing video at 1080p at 24 frames per second and 720p at 30 frames per second. A 6 frames per second burst mode is also available that is capable of capturing up to 100 shots at a time.

For focusing, it has a new 39 point auto focus system. The continuous video autofocus found in theD3100 is also found in the D7000. [Read more…]

Verizon to Launch V CAST Apps to Compete with Android Market?

Verizon [VZ] is launching V CAST Apps. This service is an app store that will be similar in some ways to any other app store such as the Android Market. V CAST Apps is for Android 2.2 OS based smartphones.

The Android Market is a fairly open platform that allows a lot of apps to be published by developers. Unfortunately, there is a lot of junk in there. Verizon want to clean up this junk and has created V CAST Apps which allows developers to submit apps for free. If the apps adhere to the guidelines then they are published in the new app store.

It is expected that V CAST Apps will launch in the next week or so at the Verizon developers conference. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 HDR Lands on iPhone 3GS and 3G – Unofficially

Last week we found information that indicated HDR photography in iOS 4.1 could be hacked on to the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. The official iOS 4.1 update that also launched last week only allows the iPhone 4 to capture HDR pictures.

This of course, is no longer the case thanks to a few smart people who managed to enable the option on older iPhone models.

Redmond Pie has put together a guide for those who have managed to jailbreak their iOS 4.1 (3G or 3GS). The How To guide goes through several steps on how to enable the feature. The easier way will be through a Cydia app that is being prepped for launch, but until it comes you’ll need to use this longer method to enable the feature. [Read more…]

LG Optimus One and Optimus Chic Android Smartphones Announced

LG today announced a couple of new Android OS based smartphones. These are the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic.

When launched, the two new smartphones will run the latest OS from Google [GOOG], Android 2.2.

The LG Optimus One will have a 3.2 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen and will have a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The processor on this device will run at 600Mhz which is a little lower than the norm of 1GHz these days, but hopefully if LG can keep bloatware off the Optimus One, it might run quite swiftly with Android 2.2 installed. AT&T Branded Galaxy Tab Incoming as Well as Torch, WP7 and More

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been spotted in AT&T’s Christmas line up and shows that the device will be landing before Christmas. The Android 2.2 based Galaxy Tab is said to be shipping prior to December.

Other information reveals that the Samsung Cetus Windows phone 7 smartphone will also be landing before Christmas along with three other Windows Phone 7 devices.

We also hear that the Samsung Focus and the HTC Surround could also be launching before the end of the year. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is also headed to AT&T before the year end. [Read more…]

Olympus E-5 Digital SLR with 12.3 Megapixel Sensor Official

Olympus has announced the new Olympus E-5 Digital SLR camera today. The new DSLR comes with a 12.3 megapixel sensor.

Features include a 3 inch dual-axis swivelling LCD screen. To process images from the 12.3 megapixel sensor, the camera uses a TruePix V+ image processor. The camera also has a Live View system.

The body of the camera is made of magnesium and is both splash proof and dust proof. [Read more…]

webOS 1.4.5 Now Available for Verizon and AT&T Pre Plus

webOS 1.4.5 has become available for the Palm Pre on both the AT&T [T] and Verizon [VZ] networks.

From what we read over at Pre Central, it appears that the GPS functionality is now fixed as a couple of users have reported that the GPS now tracks them at the correct location rather than a mile away.

Other than that it appears that it’s a fairly standard update that brings the 1.4.5 features to the Pre Plus such as the ability to play games like Angry Birds. [Read more…]

The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS was announced today. The new SX30 model is the successor of the SX20 IS. New features include a 24mm ultra-wide lens that has an incredible 35x optical zoom ability.

Google TV Release Date Could Be October 17

Google TV is expected to launch any time within the next month. Just a few days ago we heard information from the CEO of Intel who said that the Google TV release date was actually this month although a letter was emailed in to Engadget today that suggests that a two week delay is happening and that the launch is now October 17 (estimated). According to the document, the original release date was October 3 which had two weeks added on to it.

Of course, we are not looking at rock solid proof here and the information does go against what the Intel CEO said, but either way we can expect to see Google TV land in the US in the next 4 to 5 weeks it appears. [Read more…]

Apple 27 Inch LED Display Landing Soon

Apple [AAPL] could be launching the Apple 27 inch LED display any day now.

9 to 5 Mac noticed that when viewing the Mac Pro customisation page on the Apple site last week, that the text spoke about a 24 inch LED display. When visiting the site this week the wording has changed to specify a 27 inch LED display that is launching sometime this month. [Read more…]
