BlackBerry App World Hits 10,000 Apps

RIM has announced on it’s twitter account that the BlackBerry AppWorld has hit 10,000 apps.

Although it’s a milestone for RIM, it’s certainly a fair ways behind the likes of Google [GOOG] and Apple [AAPL] who’s market/app store’s have reached 100,000 and 250,000 respectively recently (or there abouts).

One reason the BlackBerry App World might be quite far behind is due to the types of customers who use the smartphones. BlackBerry devices are aimed at business users and a lot of them are not as versatile in terms of games and other types of apps that you see on Android and iOS devices. [Read more…]

iOS 4.1 Release Date Could be Today – Game Center Goes Live

The iOS 4.1 release date is rumoured to be today. Although it hasn’t landed just yet, we see that Game Center has gone live which indicates the iOS 4.1 update is ready to be pushed out.

Samsung Galaxy Tab on Three Announced

Three has announced that it’s network will be selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab when it launches.

Three is the second network in the UK to announce it will be selling the Galaxy Tab. It follows the Vodafone network who added a registration page to it’s site late last week.

The actual price of the Android Tablet is not known just yet other than a few hints that unlocked it will be around the £620 – £680 price range depending on where you buy it. [Read more…]

Nikon Coolpix P7000 to Arrive August

Nikon has announced the new CoolPix P7000 today. The P7000 joins both the S8100 and the S80 for camera launches today.

The Nikon Coolpix P7000 has a 10.1 megapixel CCD sensor. It has 7.1 times optical zoom built in with a focal length ranging from 28mm up to 200mm.

When capturing images the P7000 manages to capture several images at once with a slightly different exposure setting. Once the image is captured the user can choose which of the images to keep. [Read more…]

Nikon CoolPix S80 Digital Camera Announced

As well as announcing the Nikon CoopPix S8100, Nikon has also announced the CoolPix S80 digital camera.

The CoolPix S80 has a 3.5 inch ultra high resolution OLED touchscreen on the back that uses an enhanced user interface to help the user more easily work the camera.

The touchscreen interface allows the user to take control of the shutter speed, zoom, playback amongst other features of the camera. [Read more…]

Nikon Coolpix S8100 with High-Speed Shooting Announced

Nikon has announced several new digital cameras today. The first up is the Nikon Coolpix S8100 that has 10X zoom as well as high speed shooting abilities.

Capturing images is a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor that is capable of capturing up to 10 frames per second. The CMOS sensor uses backside illumination that brings enhanced image quality in low light and high speed capture.

The camera is also capable of capturing video at 1080p Full HD. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy S Landing in China in Three Versions

The Samsung Galaxy S will be landing in China soon. The device will be landing on all three carriers which means that three different versions will be launched due to different radios used.

The first is a CDMA variant for China Telecom that will be called the SCH-I909. It is expected that this model could be the same Samsung Fascinate that is launching on the Verizon [VZ] network tomorrow.

China Mobile will be getting a TD-SCDMA version. TD-SCDMA is 3G technology that works different to WCDMA to avoid patents and paying bills to Europe to use the technology. The model going to China Mobile will be the GT-I9008. [Read more…]

BigTrak Calculator iPhone App

If you were a kid in the 80’s, you’ll remember Bigtrak. The little drive around unit is now available as a Calculator thanks to an iPhone app that launched about a month ago.

The Bigtrak Calculator app is arranged to look like the control section of the original BigTrak and lets you perform basic maths functions such as division, multiplication, adding and subtracting. [Read more…]

Latest Gen iPod shuffle Gets Torn Apart

The latest generation iPod shuffle was announced last week and launched this week. iFixit of course, managed to get it’s hands on one and tear it apart to see exactly what’s inside the new device.

With the shuffle having no screen, Apple [AAPL] has managed to cram everything in to the shuffle and make it a tiny package.

In terms of how easy it is to teardown, iFixit gave it a rating 2 out of 10 which basically makes it very difficult to teardown. [Read more…]

Internet Explorer 9 Video Demo

Microsoft [MSFT] is launching a beta version of Internet Explorer 9 next week. A few days ago a video demonstration of IE 9 was uploaded to YouTube to give everyone an impression of how it will run and what it will be capable of.

The browser seen in the video (assuming it is IE 9 and not fan made) looks a little cleaner than the current version although not as clean as Google Chrome for example. [Read more…]

The BlackBerry Style 9670 has yet to be announced which is why we can rely on these leaked videos (embedded below) to show us what is arriving in the new device.

The BlackBerry Style doesn’t have a touchscreen which makes integrating with OS 6 a little different than the Torch for example.
