OmniFocus Integrated with Siri through iCloud

A new version of OmniFocus was released last week. The new version is designed for devices running iOS 5 although in particular it is for the iPhone 4S. The team who create OmniFocus has found a way for the app to pull Reminders from iCloud and import them in to OmniFocus.

iPhone 4S Siri Hacked to Control Thermostat

Siri for the iPhone 4S was mostly figured out recently when hackers managed to see how it communicates with Apple [AAPL]. We are now beginning to see some fairly decent Siri hacks. The first of the hacks allows Siri to control a thermostat in someone’s home. The temperature and status can be checked with Siri and the thermostat can also be reset to a different temperature.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich Details Now Available

Google has updated the Android.com website to include details about the new operating system Android 4.0. The new OS is called Ice Cream Sandwich and was released yesterday when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus launched.

Amazon Kindle Phone Could Arrive in 2012

Amazon could be launching a smartphone next year in the Kindle range of devices. Just this week the Amazon Kindle Fire was launched in the US. The Fire is Amazons first tablet and is based on the Android 2.3 operating system although a highly customised version.

It is expected that Amazon will launch the Amazon Kindle Phone sometime in 2012.

New Skype Beta for Mac and Windows Brings Facebook to Facebook Calling

A new beta version of Skype has launched today which brings a handy new feature to both the Mac and Windows versions of the software. The new Skype lets you now message as well as make video calls with people logged in to Facebook.

Samsung Galaxy S II Will get Ice Cream Sandwich

Camera+ App for iPhone Gets VolumeSnap Feature Back

It appears that the API for iOS 5 now allows for buttons to be used within apps. If you remember last year when the Camera+ app was yanked from the app store, the reason for it was that it used a hardware button to control the shutter on the camera. Apple didn’t like this.

Apple Preparing iOS 5.0.2 For Launch with New Battery Fixes

When Apple [AAPL] launched iOS 5.0.1 recently the update fixed the battery problems for some users while broke them for others and made no change for others. For myself, my battery now does last longer although I think Apple still has some work to do to fine tune it. We now hear that iOS 5.0.2 is currently being worked on although it hasn’t been released to developers yet.

Gmail for iOS Available Again in the App Store

A couple of weeks ago Google [GOOG] messed up and launched an unfinished Gmail app that contained a couple of obvious bugs. The app was quickly pulled. We now hear that the bugs have been fixed and that the app is now available again in the app store… bug free all being well.
