ODIN Interconnect Cables

OdinInterconnects
Nordost have created some interconnect cables that are bound to break the average persons bank account. Costing just short of 10,000 GBP for a 1m pair of RCA or XLR they are supposed to be the worlds finest cables.

The conductors used in the ODIN are made from 99.99999% oxygen free copper with an extruded silver surface of 85 microns. During manufacture, the surface of each conductor is highly polished and ultrasonically cleaned. A precision Dual Mono-Filiment conductor is then helically wrapped around the conductor. The Dual Mono-Filiment consists of two thin Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) treads (or filiments) which are wound around each other to provide minimum surface contact to the conductor. In this configuration the two filiments present a minimal contact point to the conductor while maintaining superb mechanical stability and preventing conductor oxidisation. A precise FEP tube is then extruded over this assembly. The Dual Mono-Filiment design reduces te dielectric contact with the conductor by more than 85%. The cable has an affective dielectric constant of 1.10, which is incredibly low. The reduction of insulation contact by more than 85% means that the current and voltage travelling above the surface of the conductor are virtually unimpeded by the insulation and that signals are transfered more efficiently and at extremely high speeds. This extreme precision of manufacturing maintains the electrical and mechanical stability of the cables even when twisted or bent.

Rocket Pen

Rocket Pen
The Rocket Pen will give you something cool to do if you are bored in the office. The rocket pen is a device which sits on your desk and has a button on it which when pressed, will launch your pen a few feet in the air. I do not see any practical use to this apart from being a good laugh for a few minutes a day or for times when you need a little stress relief. Although it looks like a rocket, it actually is a working pen. It has a soft nose and rubber sides to prevent it getting damaged or damaging things, but I do recommend you do not aim it at anyone or anything.

Tank Limousine – You can Hire it

Tank Limo

Tank for Rental

If you have a special occasion coming up and you want something cool and different to do then Tank Limo has the answer. They used to cruise around the UK in pink Abbot which was a tank, painted pink and a bit of an eye catcher. The problem with that tank is that only a few people could fit in it. Along came a new project which took parts from 30 different tanks they had laying around. They removed a few parts such as a mine layer, painted it gloss white, installed a couple of DVD players and a fridge and totally kitted out the interior. It looks quite cool and definitely a tad different from the usual limos you see driving around on a Friday and Saturday night in the UK. One more pic after the jump.

Motor Shoes

The Motor Shoes have been named the “smallest motor vehicle”. They are basically a set of wheels that you stand on and you then just control where you want to go. The demonstration shows a guy rolling around the supermarket and its quite cool to watch. I do not have any other details yet, but I will post details as they arrive.

Lego Thriller – Shot for Shot

If you are a fan of Michael Jacksons Thriller then you should have a good laugh at the Lego version which was created shot for shot using Lego men, plastic trees and various other Lego bricks. I have no clue how long it took to make, but considering the thriller “movie” is over 10 minutes long it must have taken weeks of work to get the shot for shot version out of Lego made.

Fuwapica Chair

fuwapica chair
This chair is built by a Japanese firm and is called the Fuwapica Chair. What makes it stand out against most other chairs is that it has the ability to change colour depending on how much weight it is carrying. When a heavy person sits on the chair it turns a darker red. I am not sure who would ever want to sit on a chair like this as it would reveal your weight and could be very embarrassing.

I cant see this one catching on too quick.
