Samsung 8GB microSD Card
microSD cards are becoming more popular in mobile phones. The latest phone I got has room for one of these cards. Some suppliers are handing out 128Mb to 512Mb cards for their phones. Back in February a 4GB model was introduced. Three months later we now hear reports that Samsung have created an 8GB microSD card. Thats incredible to put it plainly. A microSD card measures just 15 mm — 11 mm — 0.7 mm which is about the size of a fingernail. Unfortunately it is not going to be available for another year. The speed is quite impressive too as it can transfer 16MBps for reading and 6MBps for writing.
Clocky Robotic Alarm
I came across this cool alarm clock today from ThinkGeek which adds a different level on to the average alarm clock that you use. The Clocky Robotic alarm is a small alarm clock with 2 wheels on it. It started as an engineering student project and has now been produced. The wheels on the alarm clock propel it off your table and on to the floor. To switch it off you need to catch up with it. The one problem is that it turns and twists out of your way. This is surely going to get you out of bed unless you can fall back asleep and still ignore it. The chances are that most people will want it to shut up, and the only way to do that is to catch it and hit snooze.
EleeNo WebTime Watch
The WebTime Elite is the latest from the guys over at TokyoFlash. The watch is hand made (100%) using solid stainless steel and has resin inlays. It comes in 2 colours which are Aqua Blue and Satsuma which in its self is a very different set of colours to your average watch. The watch will fit a wrist size up to 205mm and the case has dimensions of 34mm x 35mm x 8mm. It weighs 130g.
GPS Rear View Mirror
Checking your rear view mirror when driving is what most of us do quite regularly. A company has come up with an idea which includes GPS information in the mirror for feeding back information to you such as speed traps, speed limits and accident black spots. This is idea as it takes advantage of your quick glance in the mirror to check behind. As well as showing details of those 3 items, it can also display speed and what direction you are heading. I am not sure if the GPS unit is used to just track the things mentioned here, or if it is programmable. Either way it looks like a cool optional extra for your car.
Concept SLIQ-phone
The concept SLIQ phone is very SLIQ. It has no keyboard, keypad and works with an improved sensory interface. The phone is just 10mm thick, has a nice LCD display and has a 2 megapixel camera built in. My personal opinion on this is that it does look cool. I am not fully convinced on the use of touch screens as interfaces though. They work ok on a Pocket PC as you use a stylus for them, but for a mobile phone I am not 100% convinced yet. I do hope the iPhone and SLIQ (If it becomes real) do change my mind.
Laser Tag Helicopters
Helicopters are cool, especially when they are remote controlled. Mix two RC helicopters together with a game of laser tag and you are on to a winner. This set of helicopters has just that. You have 2 helicopters which are armed with a transmitter and sensor. If one shoots the other then the injured helicopter quickly looses power and falls to the ground dead. This could give hours of entertainment. The only sucky side of all this is that RC helicopter battery life generally isn’t that long.

HP eBook Reader
Here we have a concept idea from HP. The device is an eBook reader which is A4 in size. What makes this eBook reader stand out is the unique interface which allows you to turn the pages of the book in a similar way you would when reading a regular book. It appears to work with touch sensors on the bottom and sides of the page which allow you to slide your finger and see the page turned to the other side of the screen.

Fujitsu MHY2 BH 250GB Hard Drive
Fujitsu are to create a new series of hard drives which are 2.5 inch and have capacitys of 250GB in a 9.5mm thin profile. The drives will be named MHY2 BH series and will begin during the second quarter (which is now). The aim of the drive is to hot laptops and other small devices that could benefit from a lot of storage in a small amount of space. 9.5mm is quite thin for a drive and should be a great addition to the ever slimming down of modern laptops.
SanDisk Cruzer Contour – 8GB Flash Drive
The Cruzer Contour from SanDisk is an 8GB USB Flash Drive which recently became available. The design of this flash drive is quite sleek. The design also features a unique slider USB connector which means that you do not ever loose the cap off the end. As can be expected it works at USB 2.0 speeds allowing for quicker transfers. Also another cool feature is its ReadyBoost compatability which allows it to improve system performance on Windows Vista by acting as extra RAM if specified.
USB Digital Microscope
The USB Digital Microscope allows you to capture images in high quality and very close up. With it being USB, it connects to your PC and then shows the images on screen. The software which comes supplied with the USB Microscope allows you to zoom in up to 200X and create screen shots of those objects. As well as taking still pictures, you can also use time lapse movies for items that change over time. The Microscope part is detachable from its stand which allows you to get up close to items.
