With the release of Transformers the movie coming sometime soon, a range of Transformers watches have been revealed. Unfortunately the watches do not completely transform, but they do have a couple of cool selections for you to browse. The ones that I like are the Optimus Prime watch and the LED Transformers watch. Both look cool. No price has been set for the watches made by Seiko, but we do know they should be available in a couple of weeks on the 2nd June which will be in plenty of time for the release of the movie.

Smellophone – A Phone that you can Smell
Motorola have a patent which is named the Smellophone. If you are thinking a Smellophone means a phone that you smell then you are not far off the mark. The patent says its a communication device having a scent release feature and method thereof. Interesting, but I dont know if it would really take off. This phone doesnt seem to cater to smelling who is on the other side of the phone and their environment, but seems to indicate it is more aimed at those who want to take the smell of their home with them where ever they are to have that sense of being at home around you.
007 Phone – Weird but Cool
The 007 Phone is a mixture of an old phone with new insides. It reminds me of one of those old Motorola brick phones from the 80s, but yet crammed with todays technology. The screen is quite large at about 4 – 5 inches although specs do not confirm this. The phone has a built in 2 megapixel camera, 3D surround with stereo speakers and has a lot of James Bond images and music built in. One more picture after the jump. [Read more…]
A4 Sized ePaper
LG has launched another ePaper device. It measures about the size of an A4 sheet of paper and is also bendable. This ePaper is very thin at 0.3 millimetres (300 micrometres) and it is capable of displaying 4096 colours. ePaper is designed to be energy efficient allowing the image to stay on the screen even when power is removed. The ePaper only draws on power when the image needs to change.
Setting up a Basic Portrait Shot
If photography is not one of your strong points and you want to start learning then this tutorial might help you. Finding the correct lighting for a number of shots can be difficult as you might find its too bright, too dark, blurred as well as others. What you learn from the tutorial over at L7 Foto is the effective use of lights, flash and creating the best shadows to not make the subjects face appear flat.
Tetris – Its Huge
Tetris has been a well known game over the years since it was introduced. For a long time there have been variations of this game hitting the game shelves in stores. The latest has been built by Spark Fun and is created from 240 buttons which have LEDs behind them. To play the game you touch to the left of the piece to make it move left, touch to the right to make it move right and hit the top to rotate the piece. Its a tad larger then your Nintendo Gameboys version and makes for a very hands on game of Tetris. One more picture after the jump.
Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 Hard Drive
The Travelstar 7K200 harddrive from Hitachi is a 3.5 inch SATA drive which runs at 7200RPM. 5 capacities are available which are 80GB, 100GB, 120GB, 160GB and 200GB. What sets this drive apart from all the other harddrives available is that it is claimed by Hitachi to be the worlds fastest hard drive. The drive can transfer data at a maximum of 876MBps and has a 16MB data buffer.
Cool Lightable – LED Table
This cool LED tabled named the Lightable lights up objects when placed on to it. It appears that the table is covered in a thin layer of water which LEDs at the sides of the table will illuminate anything put on to it. A crazy, but kind of cool idea. I dont think its very practical though but would look impressive if you were to invite guests around.
Casio Exilim EX-V7
The Exilim range of Casio digital cameras has indeed been an excellent range. I own one of this range my self and am very impressed with features and quality and especially the screen size. The EX-V7 is the latest Casio to hit the market and has some nice features such as a 7.2 megapixel sensor, CCD shift image stabilisation and 7x zoom. The technology in this camera that caught my eye was the motion analysis which can change the ISO and shutter speed if fast moving objects are being pictured.
Sony VAIO TZ Notebooks – Leaked Photos
Sony are launching some new 11.1 inch laptops named the Sony VAIO TZ. Two of these notebooks have been created which are the TZ11MN/N and TZ11XN/B. Both notebooks look great with one boasting a silver lid. Other differences are the amounts of memory, disk and processor. I have to say that both of these notebooks do look rather nice although I can imagine the price tag would be rather nice too 😉
Features
* 2.62lbs of weight
* Integrated optical drive
* Unique rounded hinge design
* LED backlight screen
* 1.06GHz Core 2 Duo processor
* Built-in Motion Eye camera
Sky IM-R200 with OLED touch keypad
Sky are releasing a dual LCD slider phone named the IM-R200 which has an OLED touch screen keypay. The OLED keypad can be custom configured or use one of the 27 combination displays. The phone has some other nice features too such as a dual camera which allows for making video calls as well as pictbridge technology. Memory can be enhanced through a microSD slot. I like the look of this phone and its use of OLED technology ads a nice twist to the phone. Another picture is available after the jump.
Bamboo Phone
Most, if not all phones I use have been made out of plastic. This new patent shows a new type of phone which is made out of bamboo. Yep, thats the wooden sticks that could be called a type of grass. The bamboo has a nanotech coating treated with Gamma rays so that it is more durable. Also the gamme rays used get rid of dangerous stuff like bacteria. Once coated with nanotech the final coating is titanium dioxide is silver or zinc dioxide to give it a nice look. I am not sure if the purpose of this phone is to be green (in the environment way) or to make it weigh next to nothing.
