Sony Ericsson P700i

P700i
Sony Ericsson create some great looking phones. With the W (Walkman) range of phones coming out quite regularly I had actually forgotton about the P series of phones. I used to own a P900 a few years back and think it’s an excellent device. When I heard of the P700i being spoken of I thought I best take a quick look. Mobilecowboys managed to get some pics of this upcomming phone which as can be seen it features a QWERTY keyboard, although there are 2 letters per key. The screen is a 320 x 240 colour screen and various communications are supported although full specs are still a little unclear. If Sony can get this one released then it will be another Sony Ericsson to watch out for.

Custom Built Arcade Cabinet

Custom Arcade
Most people like me will take a trip to the arcades while on holiday to catch up on the old games like Double Dragon, Street Fighter and Daytona. Arcade games are cool, but it still sucks having to feed them with money. This guy decided to build his own arcade machine which resembles a Japanese head to head game.

As can be seen it does look quite cool and a good laugh to play. It is tempting to build my own for the basement but I think I will pass and concentrate on my own cinema room 🙂

iPod Shuffle 2G Adapter

Shuffle Adapter
The new ish iPod second gen shuffle unfortunatly has a different connector on the bottom of it which does not allow it to dock in a regular iPod docking station. The Dock Adapter sits in the regular iPod docking station and then allows you to connect your shuffle. It is a simple, but handy device as there are far more regular docking stations around in which your shuffle now becomes compatible with.

The dock adapter will be selling for $19.99 and is available on pre order at the moment via the link below.

Olympus SP 550UZ with 18x Optical Zoom

Olympus SP 550UZ
The type of zoom your digital camera can make a huge difference to the type and quality of photos that you take. A lot of digital cameras tend to have 3x – 6x optical zoom and then XX times digital zoom. Having a higher optical zoom capability allows for some seriously cool close up shots of objects even further away. However, when you get in to digital zoom ranges then the image is then being built by the CPU rather then what actually hits the CCD in the back of the camera. Olympus has now created the 18x Optical zoom which it classes as the ultra-zoom range. Combined with digital zoom is allows for up to 100x the zoom rate. It is named the SP-550UZ and can take pictures at high speed at ISO5000. With this cameras lens you can take wide-angle shots with a focal distance of 28mm*1 up to telephoto at 504mm. As well as those ranges, macro photography as close as 1cm can be done. Overall the Olympus SP 550UZ looks like a camera worth looking out for.

With having such powerful zoom features this often brings a shaky effect in to cameras when held due to the slightest movement making the camera jump. This camera has dual shake proof technology which works with a CCD-shift image stabilisation system and a sensitivity of ISO1600 which dramatically reduces the problem. Although it’s best to use a tripod for the ideal shot, the dual shake proof technology can allow the pictures to be clear when a tripod is not an option.

Other features of the camera are high speed continuous shooting which allows for 15 framers per second so that the best shot can be taken. A unique (unique to me) feature is also a pre capture mode with which the camera can store images immediately before the photo is finished being taken.

Melted Soldier Warbowl

WarBowl
Hands up who used to melt their plastic soliders for fun? Well, the design team at Mosley Meets Wilcox has created a novelty bowl simply by melting toy plastic soliders from a battle of waterloo set. Both French infantry and British artillery are used to create this unique war bowl.

Priced at $229 I would probably prefer to make this my self in the microwave as it would be a lot cheaper. But for those who want a bit of a unique accessory and dont quite have the heart to melt your own soldiers you can purchase it from gnr8.

If waterloo isnt your scene then other options are available including Knights and black and red ninjas.

Philips DECT Cordless Phone

Philips DECT
This cordless phone looks quite sleek and I thought it was worth showing on Gadget Venue, although there isnt much information about it at the moment. It was on show at CES this year and also won an award for innovation. The only other things we know is that up to 15 minutes of a phone call can be recorded, and it has a unique acoustic chamber.

Infiniti Around View Monitor
For those of you who struggle to park your car then the Infiniti Around View Monitor is for you. It features 4 cameras around your car with 1 in the front, 1 at the back and 1 on each side. By stitching the images together you get a full view on a screen in your car so that you can see exactly where you are reversing to. The camera at the front will catch your attention as it is hidden until used and moves outwards by motor.

No details yet although you can check out the Youtube video below with a brief demonstration of the software.

Quad Core Laptops for when Dual Core is not enough

Quad Core Laptop
Core 2 Duo processors are quite quick in laptops, but Intel are still pressing forwards and hopefully early next year introducing the Penryn quad-core processor. Although no official benchmarks have been shown it has been described as a Core 2 Duo on steroids. Great 🙂 I like the sound of this processor. Along with a crazy type of speed this processor can run at, it will also generate a lot of heat which of course is a computers worst enemy. Although not much has been said, we can assume that it will need some kind of head reducing unit in there or to run more efficient. With the small space of a laptop, what ever it is will need to quickly get rid of the heat to keep it running at optimal performance.

StressLess WebCam – Vije T-UVC

StressLess WebCam
According to SavitMicro, the webcam can be a very stressful device to use. The thought of plugging in a Webcam and installing drivers is enough to make some people need councilling. To tackle this problem the StressLess webcam has been made. The stressful days are now over and the reason is because this webcam can plug in to almost any PC and just work with no drivers.

For those 99.9 percent of users who do not get stressed by installing a webcam then this might not be for you. However, it does support a 1.3 megapixel resolution and to be fair, can just plug in and work on virtually any PC which is actually a nice feature. It is worth checking out although I was being a bit sarcastic to begin with. Unfortunatly no pricing or details are available yet. Check back and we should have more details soon.
